The Rules by TheCamikazeD

    | The Post Limit

For for all folders excluding the Character Callout folders and the Featured folder, all folders allow for a limit of two posts per folder. This is to filter out huge influxes of art. However, the main reason we’ve decided on two a month is because we want you to submit work you feel proud of and not just any picture. You only have two spaces a month to occupy, so use them wisely and really commit to the work you want to showcase. Also, you may only attempt to submit if you are a member of the group. For more information on folders and their individual post limits, check the journal entry about the folders here:

Umbra DA Submission Folders

    | The Skill Cap

This group sets out to sort of detach from the usual structure of the general ones you find on this site. Because of that, we want to create an environment that not only looks to push our members and submitters to grow and put in their best work but one where onlookers can come for a guaranteed enjoyable collection of art to browse through. As such, the standards of submissions is a bit higher than other groups. We don’t accept just anything.

That said, never be afraid to try your hand at submitting your art. The worst we can ever say is “no” and it’s never to put you or your art down. We set out to push everyone to grow and better their craft. Us rejecting your art is not us saying you’re not good enough. Its much more us saying we believe you can do better.

We look for three things in the art submitted here: heart, effort and technically skill. The most important there is heart. No matter the technical skill shown in the work, if we don’t sense a sort of passion from the work, we’re not gonna accept it. What that means in: simple pictures of a character standing around with a blank expression just won’t do. Static images of a character portrait are a no-go. It is honestly such a strange thing to have to put into words, but if you wonder if your art is what we’re looking for, again, there is no harm in submitting. You’ll have your answer then.

With effort and technical skill, it means that we don’t want to see photos of a doodle you whipped up while waiting for your meal at Chilis or something. We accept to see some polish on the work. Even if you do take a picture on your phone, you need to spruce it up to make it not look the part. If you can trick us into thinking your art isn’t a snapshot, you passed. And with technical skill, that’s self explanatory, really. There is a certain quality threshold we have here at Umbra that is not meant to put down up-and-coming talent but meant to provide a sort of a gateway for the kind of quality we look for.

However, when concerning Character Callout, there is no skill cap. Anyone of any skill level can join in on that!

    | Your Art Only

To state the obvious, we only accept art created solely by you. That means you cannot take pictures off the internet you happen across and you can’t submit things like commission and gift art. You have to have drawn the art with your own hand.

    | No Pornography

Any art depicting sexual content for the sole sake of titillation will not be accepted into this group. However, that does not mean sexually suggestive content as a whole is not allowed. If your art using the nude body or sexual content to depict a point or is used tastefully enough, we can come to a compromise. The best thing you can do is submit your art for approval and see what happens. The worst you’ll get is a no, after all.

    | No Fan Art

This group is focused on original artwork. So, unfortunately, if you’re looking for a place to post your fan art, this isn’t the group for you. The only place fan art would have a chance here would be in our weekly Character Callout, if the prompt permits it, of course.

Sounds good to me. Not much original art of mine, except Soulless. Maybe I should start trying to make more original content instead of always just fanart...
